Held on 7th October, it was apparently this event was to celebrate IAU IYA 2009

Wouldn't it be great if the Kevin (The Ruddster) Rudd did the same at The Lodge in Canberra?

Unless they turned all the lights out for him , he wouldn't have seen much more than the moon and maybe Jupiter.

From what I've been told by CNers , it's pretty much a pointless exercise stargazing in those big eastern megacities.

I'm impressed. A world leader willing to take the time to raise the profile of astronomy and science in general. The increased media attention to science is a change to the disproportionate coverage usually given to the entertainment industry and sports.
