All Clear in SEQ

Wow!!
I was about to go to bed, went for a last look outside, and it was perfectly clear.
I set up in record time, got my drift align done.
And the fog rolls in. Literally rolling in. Like thick smoke.
It's so tragic I can't stop laughing.
But I'll stay outside, who knows, it might clear.
ahhh, but the moon is coming up too.
sigh.....

I knew I was doing the right thing staying with it. The fog is lifting!
The moon is a nuisance, but who cares, the sky is clear and the seeing is superb.
First target is NGC 4945.

At least you are getting pretty quick setting up, jjj. Hoping NGC 4945 was viewed.

Yeah Nettie, hubby got home at 8.30pm and asked me if I'd been outside. "Na, what's the point?" I asked him. "Go!" he replied. O M G!!!!I couldn't believe it. Black skies, white points of light, Orion! Mars! Saturn! Mozzies. Do I get it out? Hmmm, faint layer of cloud rolling in from the east, half hour acclimatising. Wait til tomorrow night, have everything ready.....Can't wait for tonight.

Just went out tonight - clear skies. Did the "Globe at Night" thing - I could see the sword of Orion, but not everything on the Mag 5 chart. I still clicked Mag 5 as this was completely without dark accomodation (was referring to the LCD screen to compare maps to the sky). I was quite surprised that I could see that deep, being only 6-7km from the Brisbane CBD.

Unfortunately, have big day at work tomorrow, so better go to bed now. Quite disappointing when you look at the weekend forecast - "squally rain" on Saturday!

Well it stayed beautifully clear here Liz. Seeing is woeful but the transparency is great. Unfortunately I can't take advantage of it. I crossed that finger too hard and pulled my shoulder, so no imaging for me tonight.

At least i know that someone is out there soaking up as many photons as they can.

'eh Jeanette???

It's was lovely earlier as Paul said.
But as soon as I'd completed my set up and drift align, the clouds rolled in.
Looks like rain on the way too according to the radar.
I'll just chuck a tarp over everything, it may clear later. No work tomorrow, so I'm prepared to wait.
