Advise on this ccd please

Hi, after reading some of the project threads on using a webcam for astrophotography, I was wondering how well this cheap ccd surveillance camera would go being converted for use on my dob. I assume it would have pretty poor definition but I thought I would ask the question anyway. Also, if there was any hope of it being effective, would the 16mm lens be the one to go for?

Clayton, the sensitivity is 1lux, this is not ideal for the job. something from .1lux to .01lux is beter. The Philips web cams the fellas use are cheap and effective.

Thanks DavidU, I did a search for that particular webcam but with no success, they seem to be discontinued, hence looking at alternatives. .

I agree, however the price tag is very scary.

As the others have posted, would probably steer away from it. Might be ok on the moon but that's about it, probably best save your money

Another place to get the philips web cam is Peter Lee in HongKong. He is good and reliable and also sells the adapter. His prices are in HK$.

I ordered the Phillips & the adapter from Peter Lee today. $580HKD ($90AUS) including delivery to Sydney, pretty darn good I thought.
Thanks for the tip Hagar.
