The other night I was setting up around 6:00pm starting polar alignment and was looking at Alpha Rigil Kent with a 8x50mm reticulated finder scope, centering the star, so it's a fairly wide field. In a matter of seconds I saw a bright red balloon going across the whole field from west to east. I thought wow, funny, first immediate reaction was to get off the finder scope and look at the star naked eye. Couldn't see a thing so it must have been pretty high. The only thing I can think of is a weather balloon of some sort? But are they red?
