The last thing you see...

This is the last thing you see as the slobbering squelching thing that lives in the tunnel grabs you by the waist and drags you away.....

The last in a series of images taken at the Fernleigh track in the bush just south of Newcastle. originally used as a rail line for the coal industry it is now part of a cycle way connecting Belmont to Newcastle. You can find the entrance to the track not far from Kotara shopping centre and the tunnel runs under the Pacific Highway.

I had a bit of fun with this image. It is an 8 second exposure with a Nikon D300 using the 18-70mm lens at f14. Shot in Raw and then adjusted in CS3. The pool of ...... is a slight change of mine.

I'd be expecting to see Dementors haunting the tunnel.

Impressive enthusiasm Andrew. Very nice photography too. You seem to have made Fernleigh Tunnel a great deal more scary than it is in reality. I got as great shot one morning (when I still pumped my treddley up and down Fernleigh Track) of the light coming in the bottom end as I rode out of it. Your efforts are outstanding and would eclipse any effort I have made. Despite detracting from the drama, I have to let you know that the wet patch is water, not Troll excrement. The most dangerous things that pass through this tunnel are pram-pushing mothers who cannot control their tribes of Rugrats while cyclists zoom up and down the track.
