No jet stream, clear skies and a collimated scope!!!!

Yeah,

you got it, looks like tonight is the night. Jet stream looks very good, found here:
http://www.wunderground.com/data/640x480/au_jt_anim.gif

Clear skies can be found here all over SA

And; I have the best collimation on my scope for a long time.

Oh, sorry about you east coasters; not. Its our turn now. Hehehehehehe.

So now just to kick back with a few beers and wait for Mars to rise.

It's the colour Geoff, see the scale below. The lighter blue/yellow means stronger high atmosphere winds = bad seeing.

Plain grey (no blue) = good seeing!

Good luck Paul!

Well, the forcast was for clear skies and the jet stream almost non existent. we had clear skies, but seeing here was around 1-2/10 until about 2am and then 3/10. Transparency was also not the best. Images had a haze over them. Conditions here were as bad if not worse than a month ago.

That'll teach me for skiting off. Next time I will keep my mouth shut. Karma!!!

Paul

I went & verified your 'big-mouthed' comment about no jetstream with some online maps. definately no stream present according to the map! I setup early & waited till sunup!

I gave it a 4/10 but your probably closer with your 3/10.

Not to worry Paul! Better luck next time hey? (whenever that will beeee!)
