M17 with the new RC

Well, we seem to have solved a couple of nagging issues and managed to get 6 x 5 min subs on M17 tonight. I need to get a better sense of how far to push processing and would welcome any thoughts on these 2 images. In the second, I have pushed the red up and also upped the saturation. Which do you think has more aesthetic appeal?

first one for me, the blue background detracts from the image in the second.

Preference would be somewhere inbetween, but without the blue background.

I like the first one best. You've captured some very delicate detail within the "swans" wings. Beautiful.

Nice shot....like the first one better, as there's too much blue in the second, which detracts from the shot.

Thanks for that feedback. I've reprocessed with all that in mind. See whether this is more suitable.

Looks better but there's still a tad too much blue in the background. The neb looks nice though. You've managed to bring out some subtle details in the outer parts quite well.

Apart from the collimation issue (Top right), both look pretty good. Outstanding ability for a cheap scope.

Peter,

Well done. I prefer the first image, too.
