Glenorchy and the Paradise Valley

We spent 3 days at Queenstown during our recent 3-week holiday in New Zealand.

We picked up the map one afternoon and decided to go exploring the surrounding region of Glenorchy and the Paradise Valley.

I couldn't resist capturing this scene when it presented itself. The sheer range of colours and tones was breathtaking, and there's just so much happening across the frame it was quite stunning.

40D, EF24-70mm f/2.8L.

Captured at 42mm focal length, f8 1/200 sec, ISO 100.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice. Handled the exposure extremely well - lots of tricky lighting conditions in there.

I'm really enjoying all you guys posting these NZ photos - wife and I are going for a couple of weeks in September, sightseeing and snowboarding. You're giving me heaps of ideas and locations to see

Thanks for the kind comments, folks.

Troy...you're gonna love it! The South Island is such a fabulous alpine playground. I just immersed myself in the beauty of it all.

It's also a great 'foodies' holiday. We made a point of researching recommended eateries before we left OZ...and the quality and sophistication of many of the places at which we dined was very enjoyable.

Even their burgers were delicious...and some of the gourmet meat pies!!!!

Matt,

Gorgeous. Agree with Troy, you've handled the lighting really well without blowing out either your highlights or shadows.

I want to go back so badly!

Regards,
Humayun
