I have a couple of hundred photo's to process and the only practical way to do it is in a batch process.
The problem is, PS elements doesn't seem to let me tailor my settings to apply the same processing from one file to all of them. It has four check boxes (auto) and that's it.
As you can see, the resulting image is very purple and unless I go and process all 200 images individually, there seems to be no way around it.
DL Maxium has a script function that Ive used, quite powerfull, would do that, but its a bit painfull and youd have to convert to TIFF 1st, which it can also do in batch mode.

Yeah, sounds tedious. I only have MaxIm DL essentials anyway. Why do the full versions of these programs cost so much? Who can afford them?
whoa, easy, thats a soap box of mine. Send more money on software=FAR less stuffing around and dodgy results. The tricky usefull stuff you pay for, period.
Probably a bit late for your latest project but might I suggest the freeware 'Irfanview' as a solution.
Not good for 16bit/channel images but for regular 8bit stuff it's OK.

I knew I would have problems straight away. I downloaded GIMP, only to have no batch processing commands. I then downlaoded that other hodsond dbp thingy, to unzip it and have the following error notice.
Any help? Be gentle with me....I'm not computer savvy when it comes to new things.
4) Go to each of these folders and copy/paste a copy of the dbp exe file into each. DON'T drag and drop!!!! By doing this you'll drop the file inadvertantly onto one of the other plug-ins (each are programs in their own right), which will try and fire up to process the file you've just dragged onto it. That's why your missing .dll message is coming up.
5) Close GIMP and then fire it up again. You'll see the batch processor at the bottom of the Filters list.

Chris, I got it all working thanks to your very simple, but perfectly adequate explanation. Thank you so very much. I now have the ability to batch process and use curves for the first time.

If I didn't have Photoshop CSx for work, I'd be using GIMP for everything. It's an incredibly powerful tool that will serve you MUCH better than PS Elements once you get used to it.
