M8

Here is my M8 with 6x 8min and 4x4 min shots stacked with darks flats and bias frames with the 350D.

Cant wait for the weather to clear up so I can give my new 500D a run.

Cheers Daniel.

Nicely done
Left hand edge of the nebula, around 10 o'clock position looks very much like the profile of a face

That's looking nice - plenty of subtle detail there. Hopefully you can add some more data to it soon!

Given the length of the individual exposures, I dare say there is more data hidden in there that can be stretched out..

Looks very nice though, great focus and guiding...

G'Day Daniel. Nice image but I think it would benifit from a bit more exposure. Great stars, focus and detail it just needs a bit more.

Have to agree with Doug here Daniel, but never the less it is a top capture mate, well done indeed.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Had another tweak to draw a little more out but I remember morning light cut me short on taking more subs.

Cheers Daniel.

Really nicely done Daniel considering a small amount of subs.

Just a suggestion if you want to give it a try.

One of the more simple methods of processing I found early on when you are new to it all is to use Selective Colour adjustment in PS. It adds colour as well as changes colour to the data that has been captured in the image.

choose Adjustment > Selective Colour - a drop down menu will appear red is usually the first choice you then just click on the blue arrow you have in the drop down menu and this then gives you a choice of all colour enhancements.

For M8 go into the red - cyan - majenta - and blue windows and adjust the sliders back and forth and you will see the colour changes in your image.

You mostly want to add more red and majenta and less blue.

To add the yellow stars just use the yellow window and slide the yellow slider and there they are.

I then just did an S curve to lift it a bit.

It sounds complicated when describing what to do but once you play with the sliders in the diferent colour windows you will see the colour changes happening in the image.

There are more advanced methods to be used to bring our more detail and colour but this one gets you on your way without getting into the heavy stuff

Thanks Barb and Dave, Your adjustments are a big improvement where as my core was also a little over exposed. I have noted down your tips and will give it another go.

Cheers Daniel.
