Triffid, Lagoon and surrounds

G'day all,

It's been a month of little activity for me, both on the forum and in my observatory. I didn't walk in to my observatory for at least 20 days straight! Just haven't felt like it.

But, last night a friend was keen to piggyback his Pentax on my LX200 to try some shots with it. That got me started with a few photo's of my own. It's very rare I piggyback my 350D on my LX200, but I REALLY REALLY REALLY should. Every time I'm happy with the results. So easy! I can do 5 min, 10 min, 20 min, 40 min exposures no problem. Having the LX and obs all setup makes it so much easier than out in the field where I normally use the 350D. I think I must just be a sucker for punishment doing it out in the field!

Anyhow, here's my pic from the night. It's slightly out of focus but still pretty good. Focus problem is noticed at 70% original size. The versions on my site don't show it.

Full details: on my site

See you in another 20 days perhaps

Comments/critiques are welcome.

Roger.

PS, you might hear from me again soon, I took a bunch of nice wide field shots on the 26th April out in the country which I still haven't finalised and uploaded

Very nice roger. I posted an image of both nebulas the other day and a comment was made that a bit of open space around the nebulas would be nice and you have most certainly done that.

Keep them coming.

It's almost like that it definitely feels to easy after all the hard work that goes in to every field night!

Ahh, I just found your mage ... nice image. You have your focus better than I (when I zoom in on mine). Your colour and contrast is very nice also. Yours could do with more space but then we re only limited to the focal lengths of our telescopes

I keep telling myself that - we have had quite a few clear nights in the last 20 days I haven't been doing astronomy. Many mornings when I wake up and it's 1 degree outside, and clear. But, in some ways I think it's worse to push myself to do the astronomy if I don't feel like it Besides, all this time off astronomy is appreciated by my fiance as it often equates to extra time spent on wedding preparations

Thanks everyone I wasn't expecting so many replies.
