pdf. Question, free v's pay?

I need to get a pdf. creating program for my computer. Does anyone have a suggestion as to which one to get? I understand that Adobe is good but you have to pay. Surely there is a free one that is just as good.

I have windows XP 2007.

thoughts.....

Hey there Circumpolar,

I use PDF4Free. As you can see by the name it is free, but there is a small price you have to pay. Every PDF file you produce it has the name of the program at the bottom of the file. If this doesn't worry you, give it a go. If it doese you may need to go for one of the pay for it ones. As they say, you get nothing for free these days.

Hope you find what your looking for.

Paul

I use PDFCreator http://www.pcauthority.com.au/Downlo...eator-098.aspx

Brilliant printer Driver that allows to print off from any document and am able to combine, rearrange pages from multiple documents to send in a single PDF either saved or emailed directly from the progam.

As I receive my faxes in my email, it allows me to re-send another fax with my quote and the reeceived fax from another company without printing any paper.

The only time i need to print anything is to sign it. I then scan and print it directly to PDFCreator.

Does this pdf software allow you to organize chapters?

Or you could use Lyx on Linux ;-) Produces latex, pdf and other formats. Takes a bit of getting used to, but very very powerful.

As far as chapters would depend if they are grouped on seperate pages, yes it can do that by printing Chapter pages seperately then re-arrange the chapters. But if they were on the same page no that can't be done.
I tested it while I was writing this reply. I would print out 1 page or group of pages to PDF Creator then click waiting. Every other print to PDF Creator would come up the same queue. After finishing it I could re-arrange to order of the pages or groups of pages then combine them.

Once you have printed a group you can't split the group though, would need to print the pages from the group seperately.

Maybe Dave's suggestion will work on groups or splitting same pages if you have Linux.
