I'm not an imager so forgive my stupid question... but what are the group of circular impressions / ghosts just below the centre of the third image ? (also visible on the second?)

Those look like dust particles in the optics. A flat field should exterminate them
Nice details indeed. Its a battle of the budget RC's it seems.
I've seen this before. Images need flats...or flats have been applied, but the target ADU is off the mark to correct well. New flats will fix the problem.
Good data sets Ken. I can see 3 of the dust spots in the 2nd shot, but none in the 3rd. Interestingly, I'm running a calibrated monitor, I suspect others have the gamma up far too high on their monitors if they're seeing large amounts of dust bunnies.
Bugga, I thought I 'd got rid of them . Well it wouldn't be an image from Whyalla without dust LOL. Something has gone wrong with my flat fielding I've seemed to introduce something that causes dust donuts not to be completely removed. It might have had something to do with turning off dithering. Not saying that's the problem, but the dither may have been hiding a flaw in my technique. I thought I had got rid of them in photoshop, I will check my monitor anyway here is the last two again see if that is better.
Looks like you are well and truly up and running with these three. Very nice and I can't wait to see the end result on number 1, the framing looks like it will be an absolute corker.
Wow! Three superb shots. I like the first one but the leo triplet is just awesome. Some amazing details in the spirals' structure. Can't wait to see the color. Top shelf stuff
