Cats perch chair

Greetings again,

Finally finished the "chair". Mr Acropolite the chair is a copy of the one that was being sold in the states, he no longer makes them I believe. I made the chair from some pictures with some small changes from the original. The chair is made out of "Tassie oak" (various sorts of gum tree or just hardwood) and at the highest setting places my eye level at about 2000mm high and seems quite stable, a cushion would help though. both the seat and the footrest are removable for transport as is the front stabalising foot.

I could pm you with some rough and ready mesurements and in the meantime if people of the forum would like I could put together a construction article for the project section. The only tough part is the racking for the seat and footrest, as it requires an accuracy of better than .25mm, as my newly aquired firewood collection can atest to.

Anyway have tried to attach some pics, (had trouble reducing them from 900k to less than 100k

cheers
peter

I've seen that technique used for years to make adjustable artist's easel's, but I never once considered it for a quick height adjustable scope chair. Well done, looks like you made a good job of it too.

Yes please Peter, the measurements and a very rough drawing would do.... but an article would be even better....

Observing Chair

Nice looking Chair ,
I have made a total of 4 observing chairs so far to fund my eye piece collection project. THe only problem is the time it takes. Maybe I am a perfectionist. I certainly couldn't fill a large order when I work on them , on and off over a period of months. (4 billy lids and other distractions)I have no plans to build any at the moment although I am eyeing the idea of a 35mm panoptic . Cheers Zub.
Sorry if the jpg is too big.
