Yellow Harvest Moon

There was a yellow "Harvest" Moon out this evening. This shot is faithfull to the colour I saw, which was a deep yellow. Don't think there were any fires nearby, and apparently this phenomenon is common here in the southern hemisphere during the months of March, April & May.

Nikon D40 - No crop, hand-held, 1/160th sec, ISO400 with Nikkor 300ED@f/11 plus Nikon TC-300 2x Teleconverter.

Very detailed, does this mean we're supposed to plant something?

Not sure! Isn't there a festival or something somewhere over it?

Harvest Moon in the Southern Hemisphere... probably in the north it is a Hunters Moon... beginning of Spring. Harvest Moon allows more time to gather your crops in an age (and climate) when if you didn't you and your family would go hungry snowed in you homes in the Winter.

Great "Paddy's Lantern" Chris. Loved watching them rise when I was a kid. No time (and horizon) now .

Nimbin has it's Mardigrass Festival this time of year to celebrate their
