Sydney-Hobart yacht race 2008

Hi all,

Here are some images of Wild Oats XI winning a record 4th consecutive line honours in the Sydney-Hobart. I took these from my sister's boat on a recent trip to Hobart, using a Pentax K100D and 70-300mm telephoto.

Cheers,
Stephen

Hi Stephen,
Top shots, thanks for posting.
Love sailing, look forward each year to watching the start of the Sydney Hobart on the box and following it on the web.

The guy in the third frame, sailing the little gaff rig must be a bit of a thrill seeker, Wild Oats and entourage coming up the Derwent on starboard and he being on port tack.

Regards
Trevor

Thanks Trevor. It looked for a moment like that guy was going to be in all sorts of trouble, as he was only doing about 1 knot, while Wild Oats was doing about 10. The water police weren't very impressed with him either!

Cheers,
Stephen

Thanks Scott. Their carbon fibre mast alone cost $800 000, and the spinnaker is the area of 4 tennis courts!!!

Cheers,
Stephen

Stephen,

You've been a busy lad!

Those are some great shots, too.

It's amazing to think the amount of money involved in these types of ventures!

Regards,
Humayun
