Saturn 16/12/08

This is my first attempt to image Saturn with a 5x barlow. Quite happy with the result considering it is still dim & low. Using maximum shutter and maximum gain possible without getting too noisy but image still looks dim on the preview. Happy to bag an edge-on-ringed Saturn anyway.

Thanks Mike & Sheeny. I was kind of excited because of the rare clear sky this morning. Also because I believe Dec is the only realistic month to image a really thin ring. It will open up temporarily until May then close up to zero in Sept 09. Here is another one from a slightly better avi.
Cheers

Awesome work Vincent. Looks great.

I'm wanting to get some images of Saturn myself with the rings on edge.

Well done.
