Thanks guys,
I was amazed by the detail too. Never had a really good Milky Way shot before.

10mm lens gives a nice wide view!

Yes the 10 mm gives a great vista (almost panaramic) view. Also because of the conversion factor of the DSLR of 1.6 you end up with an equivalent 16mm lens.

Is the image "as is" or did you flat field, dark subtract, etc? to remove the usual culprits of gradients, dust specs, noise, etc.

The image is as is. No flats or dark frames. Havn't mastered that yet but I would like to learn how to do that.
Yes Paul your right it's a single shot.
The aperture was set at f/5.6, avandonk, a faster lens would give better result or at least a quicker exposure. The light pollution was not bad at all but there was some in the south (towards Sydney

). This shot was looking towards the South West.
Cheers everyone.
