Comparison

It would be interesting to see two photos taken of the same planet on the same night with the DSI and Toucam trying your best with both photos for comparison.
I believe the DSI would come second best.
I know it’s taking me some time to get to know how to use the DSI properly.

In all seriousness Dave...I'd love to meet you..& everyone else, for that matter. But I don't think I can make it, which is a real pity cos' it'll more than likely be my last oportunity before I move to the US Suffice to say I'll try 'N' pull all stops to get there though!

Gee...I forgot all about this post!

Thanks David for digging that up.
I think I know the answer to my question now, anyway we'll see what you guys can come up with in snake valley.

I now know that the DSI does a decent job of the moon but the planets still allude me.

I have both the DSI and Toucam. The Toucam is superior for planetary work. I tried using the DSI for the gas giants and it fail miserably. All my good stuff has been taken on the Toucam. Save yourself some money and get the toucam. I use my DSI once a year now, don't know why I bought it. Rush of Blood. Anyone want to buy it? 350.

I think the name says it all, DSI, Deep Sky Imager
comparing the ToUcam to the DSI on planets is like comparing apples to oranges
You want a comparision try the Toucam and DSI on Deep sky stuff, at least that way you will be using one camera for what it was intended for.

cheers
David.

Paul, I might buy that DSI off you.. now that I have tracking, and I don't have a DSLR, it might be my way of getting into the DSO imaging.
