Best objects to view for September new moon?
Hi all,
I'm planning ahead for Barambah and compiling a list of objects to have a look at during the September new moon. Can anyone recommend their favourite objects to view this time of year?
cheers -- randall

Objects for Barambah?
Hi Randall & All,
It'd be nice to know what you are observing with to make suggestions, but ...
I won't give you an exhaustive list so that others can make suggestions too, but why not these three very good spring globulars -- M30 (Capricornus), M2 (Aquarius) and M15 (Pegasus).
After looking at those three very respectable G.C which are all bright and reasonably well resolved in small/medium sized 'scopes, swing over to 47 Tucanae and see how truly spoilt we are living south of the equator and what we take for granted.
I'm also a big fan of NGC 7009 -- the Saturn nebula in Aquarius and NGC 7184 -- bright, pretty large, nearly edge-on galaxy in Aquarius.
Hope you get some clear skies mate.
Best
Les D

Early on you can get the Milky Way and Jupiter in the west. If you have a good northern horizon it would be a good time to try for the Veil neb in Cygnus. Later on it would be hard to go past NGC 253. While your there you can try NCG 247, 300 & 55. Then hop over to Uranus and Neptune.

Hi Randall,
This is an excellent time of year to observe. Lots of excellent targets from sunset to sunrise. What we recommend however really depends on what scope you have. Many targets that look great in a 25" Obsession don't look so hot in a 4" Takahashi APO refractor, notwithstanding both are excellent telescopes. It would also help a lot to know what eyepieces and filters you have.
Cheers,
John B

I agree with the others in that it might help to know what tools you will be using...and maybe the degree of difficulty that you are looking for.
For a quick overview of some "eas˙ to find" things in the night sky, I like to go to this site... http://www.skymaps.com/downloads.html

 I suppose that might help... it's a 10" dob.
Being partial to planetaries and galaxies, I do have a list of objects that I've acquired over the years from the master of lists himself; Glenc , I was just curious what others like to view this time of year.

Could you provide that list in an excel spreadsheet so I can sort by constellation etc. Now I have my Argo Navis working..............
Thanks Eric

No problem, I'd seen you post excel files before. I'll cut and paste into excel then.

List
Further to the excellent work by Glenc and Erick, I added some descriptions and common names found in the chart in skymaps.com. Highlighted are also the objects recommended by others in this thread earlier on.
Cheers.
