Several months ago I purchased a Canon 450D digital SLR for astrophotography, but soon found that the batteries drain very fast during repeated long exposures (even when using a BG-E5 Battery Grip which holds 2 batteries). I have since purchased various Canon and aftermarket components to build myself both AC & DC power supplies for my 450D, and also constructed a couple of extra assemblies for sale. I have thoroughly tested both assemblies with my 450D camera, and they will also work with 1000D cameras (which are based on the LP-E5 battery as well).
1. DC Power Supply
- Canon DR-E5 DC Coupler (inserts into camera in place of the LP-E5 battery)
- DC-DC Converter with 12v cigarette socket input (output 7.5v, 2A)
- Cables are connected using DC power plugs
- See first picture $90 plus postage
2. Dual AC & DC Power Supplies
- As above, but also includes an aftermarket CA-PS700 AC Compact Power Adaptor
- See second picture $120 plus postage
Please send me a PM if interested.
Cheers,
Jeff

Reason: sold.
Thanks Ben. Yes, the AC Compact Power Adaptors (Canon or aftermarket clones) are easy to buy over the internet ... even on Amazon.com and eBay.
The primary item for sale here is a DC supply which can be used in the field (eg. from any 12 power supply with a cigarette socket output). Similar approach powering my EQ mount and Laptop in the field from a portable 12v "jump starter" power supply.
Reducing price of remaining power supplies as follows:
2. Dual AC & DC Power Supplies
- DC supply from 12v cigarette socket input (DC-DC Converter output 7.5v, 2A)
- AC supply from 240v mains (aftermarket CA-PS700 AC Compact Power Adaptor)
- Coupler (standard Canon DR-E5 Coupler, inserts into camera in place of the LP-E5 battery)
- AC & DC supplies are interchangeable using DC power connectors.
