Download Scheduler

I'm looking for a good download manager. Something that I can use to schedule to download files from the web overnight - say programmable to start at a certain time.

Since going to satellite, I have to watch my downloads. I'm sailing pretty close to the wind each month with nearly 3GB traffic during the peak period (I'm on a shaped 3GB plan). But the neat bit that I didn't realise when I started on the plan is there's another 3GB that I can use off peak - that's between 11pm and 7am... when I'm either sleeping or doing astro stuff.

So what do you recommend?

I recommend TPG ADSL 2+, 40 gig peak and 110 gig off peak. I use Utorrent as a downloader it allows scheduling to off peak hours.

Thanks Mick. ADSL is out unfortunately as I'm out in the sticks. I have a choice of satellite or dial up. Guess which one I choose?

Hi Al,

Try a trial version first of GetRight here

it can do this
You can schedule a time when GetRight should start downloading to get your files...so it can do all the work in the middle of the night while you sleep.
Looks really good and is cheap too.

Goodle for "open source download manager", I'm sure you;ll find something you don't have to pay for. Here's one from a search.

uTorrent is great but, obviously, only good for torrents. For everything else I use getright.

I've downloaded TrueDownloader, thanks Phil. Thought I'd start with a freebie. It looks like the business.
