Keyhole area crop

The image below is a crop of the Keyhole area of Eta Carinae Nebula taken last night with some pretty ordinary seeing.
The image is a compilation of 40 X 5 minute exposures with Darks Flats and Bias subtracted. The image was taken with:
Camera: QHY8
Telescope: Takahashi FS102
Captured with Nebulosity. Gain 20% Offset 120
Final processing in photoshop.

The image was cropped due to some terrible gradients from the big bright moon. I must get a Ha filter to try.

Nice work Doug, very smooth and the stars are perfect round dots.

Sorry to post another Keyhole but with the moon like it is this is a pretty easy target and bright enough to keep experimenting on. I am still learning how to use and process images with this camera so any and all feedback is very welcomed.

Eta carinae has so much and is so varied that I personally never get sick of imaging it or looking at it.

So many thing you can change when imaging with the CCD and the processing that I could be at this image for some time to come.

Looking good Doug ... perhaps a little orange in tonality for my taste but lots of detail showing ... nice round stars as Mike said. Maybe some slightly longer exposures 6 or 7 minutes. I found with my st2000xcm that 6 rather 5 made quite a difference to images ... generally the longer the better .... skyglow permitting ! The HUTECH IDAS LPS2 is a good filter to have in your arsenal as well !
Keep at it ... we have crap weather here in the west right now through 'till around Wednesday according to the bureau. Just in time for bright, bright moon ............. ah well.

Hi Doug, looks great. Those Tak's really are great little scopes. Think you've captured finer detail here that the same view I posted from last night using a C9.25 with reducer

816mm Clive. F8. and a very nice doublet it is. I am thinking of a bit more focal length for some smaller galaxy work. Thinking of a Vixen VC200L. Suppose to be a very flat field. Too much on the market at the moment.

Doug i had a vc200l, took out the mirror to clean once and .... i could see the ripples across the mirror surface,i myself would not recommend one.I all so know someone else that had one and they agreed with me, especially if you want to do imaging
Having said that...i am only giving my opinion,and remember...opinions are like arseholes everyone has one.
