Jupiter + Callisto transit (3 hour rotation animation) - 31st May

Hi all

Finally got around to processing all of the data from last Saturday morning, 30th May UT. Seeing was variable (mostly just above average) but for about 30 minutes it really steadied and I was able to capture probably my best image for the year so far.

Callisto is shown transiting across the face of Jupiter - it's very very dark!

Captured with 12" newt, DMK21AU04. Processed in Registax v5 (beta).

great images... You must really work up a backlog! I've still got a few from a week or so ago to edit up, but the resulting image from each AVI usually turns out around abouts identical, so I hardly bother digging through the backlog....

Beautiful animation Mike, with some stunning frames in the sequence. I like the smoothness of the sequence and the auto, reverse play; it really gives the viewer time to appreciate this astonishing planetary drama.

Thanks guys - there's about 3, maybe 4 frames from the animation that were about as good as #3 (#3 is one of them).

Runs 12 through to 16 out of the 18 were the best.

I almost packed up after #9 when the seeing deteriorated for a while. A number of the images were much worse than they could've been by having 1 great channel but 2 really bad ones.

It was frustrating seeing!

I'm on the R5 beta-testing programme so it's not publicly available yet. It's still very flaky in terms of stability at the moment and production release looks to be quite a long way off still.
