Noise ware programs/software

Hi Guys, just wondering is there a local, or more so an Australian supplier of any noise reduction program/software, that I would be able to purchase.

I don't have the facility to purchase from over seas, and it seems that most of this stuff is available only from the states.

Can I just buy a package from around OZ and stick it on my computer.

Leon

Yes Terry that is true, but one only gets a 15 day trial period, with that.

Hi Leon,

Neatimage has a trial version that does not expire. the only thing is that it wont do 16 bit images. Well it does but it converts your tiff to a jpeg when you save it.

I am happy with this and one day may decide to purchase the full version.

Cheers

Leon have you experimented with Noise reduction in Photoshop. If not try Reduce Noise or Despeckle or Dust and Scratches. Maybe not as good as separate Software but on some images they can do a reasonable job.

No. The "community edition" doesn't have a time limit but it is limited in what it will do.

Hi Leon

There is also the Blur filter tool in Photoshop which is very useful. Choose the Gaussian blur option .... you can set the radius with greater accuracy than dust and scratches etc. Also look at your individual channels of your image . Usually a particular channel i.e. blue will show more noise than another channel so apply the blurr to the noisiest channel only and see how it looks. By doing this you will retain sharper detail in the other channels and not effect the whole image. Anyway mess around with it. Always work on a copy of your image so you have the original to fall back on .... lock it away safe.
