I'm selling my Meade 8.8mm Ultra Wide Angle s4000 Eyepiece.
This is a great EP made in Japan. These rarely come on the market.
It has an 84 degree FOV which is extremely sharp across the field. I have found this EP to be wonderful in fast Newtonians and my SCT, and the ONLY reason I am selling is to fund a Pentax XW (which would be one of the few EPs to out perform this one... supposedly)
This EP is in very good condition and comes with Meade bolt case.
Optics are in perfect condition, both 1.25 and 2" barrels have a few set screw marks, but that's all. I've never had the small screw for the side of this EP, I've never needed it, I think it helps when using 1.25 diagonals, but even then I never missed it.
Two years ago Meade 4000 UWA eyepieces were considered a highly sought after premium ep and the asking price would have been double this.
Such is the fickleness of fashion in the astro gear market. The eyepiece will be just as good now as it was then
