Took this within hours of getting my new 450D camera. 4 shots ISO200 raw images stacked. Taken with 6 inch f3.6 SN prime focus with mpcc coma corrector and glass full aperature solar filter.
What a strange Sun, granulation only, no spots at all
boy how sharp is that! nice one Scott! weird seeing it so blank in the visual spectrum for so long, i think this camera is every bit as revolutionary in the very affordable range as the 300d was in its time, a watershed moment/paradigm shift/quantum leap, all those superlatives. thanks for putting it through its paces and sharing them, look forward to more from you!
With the Sun at the moment, it would be a great way to check if you have any dirt on any of the optics!
So what happened to the "false start" from earlier in the year! Buying a PST now would be almost as much of a waste as buying a scope at the end of this year just to have a look at the rings of Saturn! You'd be dissapointed, wouldn't you!

Yes the more I play with this camera the more I love it. I "discovered" that the camera allows remote manual focus of an AF lens in the Live View function in the supplied EOS utility, with big, med. and small increments to adjust the lens for perfect focus, like using a robotoc telescope focuser. never take another blurry image again. Theres also much less "deviant pixels", the occasional bright pixel you get with long exposures that I get on the 350D. Everything is quicker too.
Indeed, the Sun is not an exciting imaging object at this time
