Jupiter event calendar

Hi Planetary guys and girls.

I have just ran through the planetary program Astrocalc and picked out what I feel are significant events for jupiter.

The calendar appear on the left hand side of the site or you can go directly to it
http://www.iceinspace.com.au/calendar/calendar.php

I have used *** event *** for something significant

May has three such significant events in my opinion

The timing is all skewed to the early morning when Jupiter is at its highest and hence i may have missed some GRS transits etc.

Astrocalc is an excellent tool for seeing what is happening with the planets........it is also free!

The times are based around AEST, so please adjust for your local time zone

So clouds can rack off and let us get some great images and viewing!

PS

It is great to see the calendar full of the true field of astronomy (jupiter imaging )..........(note to self, houghy and the other dso'ers would not have read the thread in its entirety and will miss this dig hee hee )

Thanks, David. That's very helpful.

Yeah...Astrocalc is great. I've been using it for ages and find it very reliable for moon and GRS transits...far more reliable than my version of SN Enthusiast.

Although I'd check your times, there. I just checked tomorrow's calendar advisory for GRS and Ganymede and it'll be 2am for us here in Bris. By 3am, the GRS has just about rounded the limb.

I would have thought there'd be no 'timing' probs now that we're all on EST (non daylight saving time)?

Cheers.
