Side by side mounting on EQ6?

Hello again

I'm considering a side by side mount for my newtonian and ED80 on my EQ6 mount but I'm having problems on concieving how, once I've mounted the cross bar on the top declination axis with it turned 90 degrees, the mount doesn't get confused with it's coordinates etc.

Is it a matter of simply parking and redefining the coordinates in the mount somehow or do I need some kind of encoder.

Sorry I'm very fuzzy on this one.

cheers

Mike

Hi,

Park the mount, then just turn the mount head whichever way you want, i.e 90 degrees left or right. When you turn it on it will still think it is pointing in the right direction. Your first alignment star may miss by a bit but once it is aligned again it will be exactly the same pointing-wise as it was before.

Thanks!

Thanks Paul,

I knew it must have been something simple. I'll be getting stuff together in the next few weeks and I'll see what happens.

cheers
