Dougs (dugnsuz) Eta Request

Hi Guys, now before you say, bloody hell not another Eta Carinae, it was all Dougs fault, he made me do it.

Anyway, it was suggested to try of the new Modded 20D, and see how it would pick up the Photons, so to speak.

So here is the test run, both images are at 200 ISO, yep, not very high, didn't want to blow it out to much, but good dynamic range.

Other than Image Plus processing, they are untouched, nothing else done to them, and are un-cropped widefields straight out of the camera.

The first is 8 exposures at 3mins, at 200 ISO, and the second, 5 exposures at 2 minutes 30 seconds at 200 ISO, taken with the modded 20D through the Tak and mounted on the G11, auto guided.

The only draw back is that I'm a bit spoiled with my 5D, as the 20D dosen't give the 1-1 wide field that i really like.

Anyway have a look and see what you think, please feel free to comment either way.

Leon

Thanks leon for indulging me!!
So those 2 pics are single exposures!?
Amazing - they really show the difference a modded camera makes.
I read your "for sale" ad before I came here - now I can see why you would want to mod your 5D.
You should just sell the whole blooming lot and buy a top shelf CCD that's where you're heading anyway leon!!!!

Those are great images for single exps - imagine stacking the buggers!!!!!
Jeez, I usually have to stack 10x600sec shots and spend a week tweeking in PS to get a similar result!!
Nice!
All the best
Doug

They are pretty spectacular. I don't know much about the 'mods' or DSLR's - I presume its to increase Ha sensitivity??

Doug, sorry mate I wrote this wrong, no they are not single exposures, although one is 3mins and one is 2mins 30 secs there are a number of them aligned and combined in Image Plus.

Now that I re-read the post it dose sound like single exposures, sorry to anyone if I have misled you, will fix the post
