Arrow Overpriced or What!!!

How much are you prepared to pay (or get ripped off) for a 3.5" telescope?

Ebay has this. . .

When I was in the market for a new scope at the end of last year I asked a Sydney scope shop about the Questars and he said "Forget it, they are not very good for anything except as pretty ornaments".

Interesting comment from a scope shop!

A questar was my all time favorite scope back when I was 13 or so. Fell in love with the way it looked I guess. There not good compared to today's standards, no.

They are pretty, but not worth paying $6,800 for a 3.5" Maksutov Ornament!

The guy in Sydney did say that if I am serious about astronomy don't get one, they are very limited in what they can see. For the same price or less I could get some quality equipment. I did! I got my 12" GS Deluxe Dobbie for a grand!

Yeah. Back when the questars were being manufactured, owning a 12" reflector was nearly un-heard of! Cheap like a grand I mean. It'll end up on some rich guys mantle piece, I bet. & never let anyone look through it once he realizes the optics are crap lol.

Maybe it's not such a bad price.... It'd want to be good though.

The first one is $10,859 Canadian dollars, still about US$9000. A bit of a difference to US$6800.
