Imaging/Viewing time

Hi all, I was working out that in the last five months I have managed just eight hours of imaging and one hour of viewing (I was desperate so I set up regardless)

While not entirely due to cloud and rain, there have been a few great nights missed due to work and other clear nights where I didn't bother due to temps in the 30's and jet streams right above me.

I know that there are a lot of us having great runs of clear sky and I'm very envious but I'm sure there are a few out there like me as well.

I think the only way around this is an Obs and permanent setup that way you are ready to go at a moments notice and not have to worry about losing that rare hour or two between cloud banks with setup procedures.

Cheers

I have a permanent set up Ric but for me at least it has not stopped raining...I went up yesterday and everywhere was fine and clear...looking at my mountain (er hill and it is not all mine but thats my description to me) it was hidden in cloud..when I got up there it was raining and did not stop all the time I was there...coming back down on the flat later it was not raining.

I have had my DSIs so as to auto guide for months and am still yet to make that step because mainly the weather on the hill.
But in the past I had some excellent runs so what can you do?

Hi Alex, I looking towards the Autumn months now which is usually a stable time in regards to the sky, clear and cool.

Still in the mean time I'll take what I can get.

I think some of your rain must have come down for a visit, we've had some good fall here in last couple of days. My fruit trees look very happy at the moment

Cheers

I feel sorry for you guys up in the far north. You must get even less viewing time than me with the wet season.

I dont think I have seen a member that hails from Darwin and Ian is the only member I have seen from the top end.

Cheers
