Sorry Just One More Eta

Hi Guys, I know you are sick of Eta Carinae, but just one more please.

As you all know i have been trying to get a handle on this processing stuff, and feel that i may be close to getting it right.

So I would like to once again post an image of Eta Carinae for your inspection, and comments,

Apparently I was clipping the Histogram to much, and have processed this image with the suggestions of some experienced people on IIS

The image was taken last night, where seeing was pretty ordinary, and consists of 8 exposures at 2 min's 45 sec's each, at ISO 400, through the Tak and Canon 5D, on G11 and auto guided.

Aligned and combined in Image Plus and Levels in PS2.

Hi Leon,

I'm no expert but it looks great in my opinion. Nice colour and so many stars. Keep up the great work.

Cheers,

Peter.

i'm a fan, a bit too red, makes the softer folds and details harder to see, but darn it it if isn't a nice shot regardless.
good work!

no apology required.... getting better

centreing of image would help but as a processing idea this isnt so nessesary

heres a tip, as youve invested a lot of dough in your gear , go spend another 80 odd dollars or so and buy photoshop astronomy by R Scott Ireland. It is written specifically for processing of astro images in photoshop.

it has tutorials and examples on a disk and will point you in the right direction.

alot of improvement there leon but why 2 minutes and 45 sec subs? wouldn't you want to round it off that extra 15 sec to make it 3 mins?

Looks good Leon, maybe a little red as mentioned.
How dark is your black point in your final image? is it set to 0,0,0.
I always find it makes a more pleasing result if you bump it up the lowest values to the 20s depending what the subject is..and have the blue maybe a few points higher but this is all personal tastes
cheers

Hmmm, very constructive comments thank you, now this Red that some of you have commented on, i have to admit i agree, but i have already de-saturated it by 20 points or so, for some reason Eta comes up very red all the time.

Good question Eric why 2.75 mins, no real answer mate, i suppose i was trying to stay under the sky fog limit, i probably should go a bit longer next time and see how that works, all good experimenting.

thanks for you comments as well, and Mr Alcmeny... I thing that woud be a good investment and will look at getting that program.

Thank You Guys.
