SOLD: Meade ETX-60 Telescope – low cost, portable, go-to observing kit!

The ETX-60AT is Meade’s ‘pocket rocket’ from the ETX family of compact, electronically-controlled, go-to telescopes. Many of these are high-powered, narrow-field Maksutov-Cassegrain telescopes, but the ETX-60 is a 60mm x 350mm, f/5.8, multi-coated Achromatic Refractor that provides exquisite widefield optical performance in an easy to use, ultra-portable, lightweight package. It’s the ultimate in automated ‘grab and go’ convenience - take it with you anywhere at a moment's notice!

The Autostar 494 hand controller can automatically locate over 1,400 celestial objects from its internal database. After an easy, 60-second alignment of the telescope's computer to the sky, you can find and observe named stars, double stars, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, the moon and the major planets from Mercury to Neptune. Just select the target from a scrolling menu in the Autostar display, press GO TO, and watch as the telescope moves to place the object in the field of view. Once an object is located, Autostar directs the telescope to track it automatically. And if you want to explore the sky but aren’t sure what you might enjoy seeing, a “Tonight’s Best” guided tour will automatically determine what can be viewed at that time, date and location, and take you to the best objects one by one at the press of a button!

This ETX-60 comes with a non-Meade soft carry bag that holds the entire kit: telescope, hand controller, two eyepieces (a Meade MA25mm for wide-field images and an MA9mm for higher-magnification views of the Moon and planets), and a table-top mini-tripod that also includes a removable camera tripod adaptor. The whole kit weighs only 5kg, so the lightweight ETX-60 is easy to pack or carry when travelling and its 6 internal AA-batteries power the telescope for over 20 hours in the field.

The complete ETX-60 observing kit, in great condition, with all of the above items as pictured, plus an Instruction Manual and a copy of the very useful astronomy guidebook, “A Walk Through the Southern Sky”: $300 including careful packing and insured, registered postage to anywhere in Australia. Inquiries by PM, please.
