Another of those 'My very first pics.'

Hi guys. These are the very first pics. taken thru my DOB, tonight at 6.30 pm. (Ripley's)?
Shot with Canon A75, afocal, handheld, thru an MA 18mm, with .96ND moon filter, 63 x mag, 1/60 @ f6.3. Manual settings. Some of the others didn't come out so good. Tried 1 or 2 more with 15 mm S/P & 2 x barlow,(150 x), 1/125 @ f4. Not sure about these. Just caught the edge of the FOV. Thoughts/comments? L.

Hello, Rajah

Nice images. The first one has 3 of my favourite craters, Tycho, Gassendi and Copernicus. The 3rd shot shows Sinus Iridium and Mare Imbrium with a good shot of the crater Euler. I used to avoid the Moon until I got my Meade LPI and now it’s like an old friend who has returned from the wilderness.

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks for all the kind comments, guys. As I said, I wasn't sure if the 'barlowed' ones would work. But they seem to come out reasonably well. Now all I have to do is make a camera/focuser attachment. I don't plan on going the 'whole hog' just yet. Will start slowly methinks. Oh, BTW, I asked this in another post, but if you set the camera to video/multi-image mode can you get reasonable pics.? Or does quality etc etc suffer? I think I'll re-read Mike's instructions again. Ta again.
Regards, L.

Laurie,

I don't think you can save/post pics from video on a digital camera????

Mine won't. Maybe some can.

Thanks guys. In multi-image mode I can take a series of shots, until the 256/512 meg card fills up. Can these be utilised/stacked or whatever? Might try one night. What prog. to process? Regards, L.

Yes Laurie, as I said in the other post, I use the "burst" mode of the camera to take a series of 5 shots in quick succession. I can then use those to pick the sharpest, or if they're all good, stack them in registax.
