don't worry buddy, exactly the same here
Unlikely to change, especially now that there is a tropical infeed due to arrive next week - in other words, rain and more rain!

Don't worry Doug, it will all go soon.
I cannot even think about getting a start on Mars yet. I am waiting patiently for the cloud to go and the Jet to disappear.
This hobby is all about patience. Time and patience................

If that is the case over there Doug, I might as well pack up my set-up for a while, i have it ready to fire up at short notice, as all your weather comes this way.

We've been going to start a thread on Melbourne's shocking cloud cover.
Our last imaging session was on 2nd October. As you have said the odd night there's been a small window of opportunity we've had other commitments
We now have all the bits and pieces to start autoguiding and haven't even had enough clear sky to focus on a star to test it out.
|
I made a "climate rage" thread - lets get that out! Vent that steam off boys!
Last time it was clear in Melbourne was exactly 11 days ago. :mad2 : :mad 2:
Next time it will be clear in Melbourne is Tuesday night by the looks of it
After my last obs session, I was screwing around with my collimation. Maybe I did such an awesome job that it is equivalent to buying a new scope

Funny, i was talking to a guy at my kid's school day out recently who had been to all the gigs i had been to in my home town (Edinburgh) Rush, UFO, etc etc, and he was a guitarist and serious valve afficianado too - and the name Mullard came up! I'm a bass player and had an Eden head with the12AX7 in the pre amp - that's the only valve i know!!!!! But, this guy was using cryogenically treated russian Military valves and that kind of stuff in his gear!!!!
The Chernobyl sound
Cheers

small world eh Doug! the tung sol I just put in is the cryo one with gold pins they not only last twice as long, 40 000 hrs, the tone is actually better too! and thank goodness for the eastern european/soviet/chinese miltitary keeping valves alive! gawd bless their pinko 50's technology
they actually bought all the tools/machinery off the west when they went totally solid state - i think the tung sol factory in romania? is old phillips factory from NY?! stay away from the chinese stuff tho - altho they have their qualities
my mate has the ampeg valve bass pre amp, and loves his telefunkens - they sound awesome - changes them between sets - now that is a serious valve nerd! but its like having different amps with a quick change!
