When polar aligning....

When adjusting the altitude while polar aligning, does the star drift north or south with the RA motor off?

A star should always drift west with your RA motor off....

That would explain it then. Next time I'll use the whiskey to stay warm AFTER I've polar aligned.

Drifts west with motor off - north/south drift influenced by deviations from good polar alignment.
Better luck next time!
