The Horsehead through the eyepiece

Hi was wondering if anyone else has viewed the horsehead without imaging ...2 months ago myself and a member of the ASNSW and well known amatuer astonomer here in Broken Hill were out at a very dark site 35 klm,s from the town ,Orion was high in the morning sky and i asked trevor to confirm it , he told me it was the first time that he had viewed it through an eyepiece, i was using a meade 26 mm eyepiece through my 10" lightbridge with the Hydrogen beta filter, this is really the highlight of my viewing along with the veil nebula with the O3, the same image was also viewed with a 12" lightbridge...............Cheers Kev

Hi Kev,

Only once have I seen Horsehead visually, but I have only tried it once

I used my GS 12" Dob and a 32mm 2" Erfle. Man, the Horsey was tiny, but it was there!!!

Must have a look again some time

Saw it last week in an 18 inch obsession. With Hbeta filter it was plainly obvious.
