Eta from Duckadang 2007

this was the very first of my guided shots on the Eq6 with the vixen R200SS, the cooled 350D and being guided by the trusty ed80 and shoestring usb and a toucam. it is 10 x 181 second shots at iso 1600. from memory the camera was at a temp of 2 degrees. I am stoked as it is the best i have done to date for myself, it is by nowhere the best image and the focus could have been sharper

Nice going Houghy. Plenty of nebulosity captured. I like the how the object is framed. Well done. It is evident that Duckadang has been very productive with all the images you've posted.

thanks for the kind words Jase. I actually captured heaps of data, but my limited processing ability probably removed most by accident - trial and error and techniques to learn yet.

have included 3 images - one untouched - one just autobalanced and the other autocolour

Yes it was taken very early in the night before eta disappeared behind the trees and horizon. I focused on Acrux before taking the shots. I auto guided on Acrux for 10 minutes before I felt as though I could do a good job on eta - now for the learning curve Ken, processing!

thats what they said in close encounters?

I have asked as to the correct processing technique to best reflect the actual colours of deep sky objects - and not pretty thought up ones either.

Don't believe him DaveP, he has enough equipment to sink a battleship and a mini replica of the taj mahal in black ripstop to house it in. Lovely image BTW h0ughy.
