aarrgghh

Decisions decisions..

Want to flock my tube and clean my primary tonight, given that clouds have interrupted the last 7 nights..

But just looking at the b.o.m site, it's looking like the clouds are clearing and tonight just might be ok.. there's scattered cloud about now, but enough blue patches to figure that it could be clear by nightfall.

I won't want to start the flocking/cleaning and not be able to finish it for one reason or another, and miss a night of imaging/viewing because I haven't finished the job!

aargh decisions!

btw it looks like newzealand and tasmania and most of victoria are in for a bit of a battering in the next day or 2.
It's heading east too, nsw are next!

Mike,

Just studied BOM site. Can't see any really bad weather coming for Victoria.

Why don't you bite the bullet and do your scope anyway.

Tomorrow night you will probably say "I should've done the scope last night".

Do it tonight, and tomorrow night you would have less light polluted views. One night without viewing won't hurt (and the moonlight is annoying anyway).

Don't do it, tomorrow morning (sunday) there will be a shadow on the face of Jupiter and the GRS on the left hand side at 516am here, so you might want to image. Good luck on your decision. I know what I will be doing. Especially with a cool breeze coming through tonight.

I'm not doing it, the sky is crystal clear and I don't want to miss the opportunity.. besides, I haven't had time tonight anyway. I want to catch Saturn and image it, and hopefully get up for Jupiter in the morning.

bah I wish.. It was kinda clear last night, and I got some Saturn avi's.. haven't processed them yet.. clouds rolled through every now and then but it was mostly clear.. didn't get to do it for very long though, my wife was sick and wanted to go to bed and well, you know..

Got up this morning to do Jupiter but of course it was cloudy again.

I don't know yet, the avi's are still on the laptop. Got a busy morning cleaning the house and yard and then going off to my niece's first birthday party.

The seeing was fairly ok, not great but i've imaged in worse I tried a few different settings, mainly a bit higher gamma and gain and I used 15fps. On the preview screen it looked pretty good when the seeing was calm, hopefully there'll be something worse processing in the bunch.

At least at 15fps there'll be enough frames to choose from, and hopefully I can get a stack of 500 at least to push the wavelets a bit.
