KStars on RaspberryPI - cursor

An odd thing - recently loaded KStars on a Pi4 box to see whether it might work for me. It has been fine in the past.

This time, it loaded easily and to all appearances was fine BUT the mouse cursor/pointer disappears whenever you move it onto the KStars window. It reappears when you move it back out.

I can't find anything either Pi OS or KStars config options that control it.

Anyone else experienced this?

I've found a few threads on CN and elsewhere but no solutions.

Hi Peter,
I came across your post. I have used Stellarmate on a RPI4 which is KStars , for a number of years without a problem. However, I do control KStars wirelessly through my laptop which makes it easier.
I would recommend you look at Stellarmate as the software is reasonably priced and it remotely controls all my equipment .
Regards
Geoff

kstars on raspberry pi

I did have the cursor issue some time back but it was caused by (if I recall correctly!) a notification window underlying the main window, waiting for a response. I found this by cycling through the open windows with alt ~.

Since then I have moved to Astroarch on rPi which runs kstars/indi etc quite well, running "headless" via VNC. Astroarch runs the "bleeding edge" version of kstars which is more up to date than the stable version. (but mine is a very simple installation with only EQ-AL55i mount via USB and a Canon DSLR!).

Having said that I still occassionally have issues with the mount going haywire, but I think that is an Indi driver issue....still lots to learn!

Tony
