Queensland Astrofest 2007

I know, I know it is far too early and we havent event got passed the SPSP yet, but I am very very keen for this one. I have booked already and as the "official" web site is now up and taking bookings Alan Meehan and myself are the firt to have registered for this event.

it will be a big one for me, I will have the losmandy G11 and a c8 and a lx200R 10" to play with and a you beaut modified canon350D cooled camera. I am so looking forward to some losmandy lessons fropm Mr Ponders setting up in LOSMANDY alley. Might even let in a few em200 and 400's if necessary

So the reigning counterweight tosser from NSW is coming back

Well, I told the guys at work this afternoon I was taking that week off and not to bother putting me on the teaching timetable for that week.

Sya asked me last year why it wasn't running for two weeks. She also asked if I would be allowed to camp out there early or stay later.

Are you sure Dave????

According to Wiki……Lesions are sometimes intentionally inflicted during surgery…..

Do you really want Paul to inflict lesions on you…..?

Cheers

Well we are going to trial a double weekend next year.
It is 23rd July - 3rd August 2008. We're hoping it will be popular, as the weekend are our fullest nights.

If it is, and it's not too much extra work, we'll do it again.

You could 'break down' like Brendan and end up staying longer or drive through the night then you would only miss one night.

Anyway the whole idea started for people who work during the week to see more dark sky. And maybe the interstateers may try to sleep a bit more before they leave for home. I'd hate to be restricted to just the weekend, it wouldn't be an Astrofest experience.

I gave my boss the Astrofest dates about a month ago and told him I'd be taking time off - probably 4 days or so, not the full week as it's all unpaid leave and I can't afford to drop a weeks pay AND buy lots of raffle tickets / astro goodies while there!

Rob I know you'll miss the family this time around but we'll all have a great time there.

Look forward to catching up with the rest of you too whom I only get to meet at Astrofest.

Cheers!

go phil, you can sleep next to Paul, he goes to bed fairly early and doesn't snore at all. Paul normally camps near the family dorm, I take it thats where you would be bunking with the missus
