I've often seen this kind of thing on the web and wondered why people use them? The only reasoning I can think is if you expect it might rain? Or perhaps in the US where there are 1000 people at a star party and you're concerned about security?
I would expect they are confined/cramped and make moving around and talking to others while observing harder and more awkward?
Interesting objects... certainly neat to be able to tuck it all away safely ... but I dunno...
Ahh yeah... wind, light & dew are good reasons. In my case, light - to keep the light in (from the laptop etc)
Hey, speaking of laptop light, i did a thing to cure it that worked twofold....
I was imaging Venus in the middle of the day, i have a card table set-up and the daylight made my screen hard to see, so i got a 30 pack of diet coke, drunk all the cans to empty it, then cut the top off, cut a 4 by 1 inch slit in the long side and put it over the monitor upside down and VOILA! A laptop peephole that kept the daylight off my screen and not only that kept the frost off my puter, i need to refine it but i need to make a proper box OR make a tent shelter....
Kendrick have good tents but a little pricey for my liking!
PS......i didnt drink all 30 cans of diet coke....eventually i did but next i'll try Tooheys OLD carton...
