Jupiter - June 2 - 1249UT

The seeing wasn't too bad tonight, despite the passage of a cold front to shake things up a bit.

Spent a worthwhile hour with the 9.25 and ToUcam.

I'm imagining what might be possible with some more of those 8.5/10 nights back in March and April, now that my capture and process skills have improved a little.

Matt I reckon that's one of your best, great work just finished up {or given up } gathering some data myself but doubt very much I will approach what you have achieved

Thanks, Stuart.

Some days are better than others.

I seem to be getting better at making the most of the conditions available.

Jupiter's also been really great this apparition. There's been so much going on.

Here's an image produced from one of the first AVIs of the night with what appears to be a major disturbance in the SEB approaching the planet's limb at left.

The seeing wasn't as good as it was for some of the later AVIs which produced the first image, but I've increased the image scale anyway to highlight the feature I'm talking about.

Pretty interesting stuff

Excellent image Matt, another one of your best. I stayed inside last night, was too tired from the night before.

You really need to get that DMK cranking!

Very well done.

Thanks, guys.

Ving - no dust particles, mate. Chip is squeaky clean.

Mike - I'll get into the DMK thing shortly. You on commission or something?

Will be adding the Atik manual filter wheel and Astronomik filters over the next few months.

Great stuff, Matt. You're quite right - your processing skills have come on enormously.

Nice one Matt I'm very envious you you southern guys and your clear skies.

If you want to use the DMK without the filters, there is a way you could do it. Buy a 12" Dob, mount it on an EQ6 and use that to capture luminance images as the same time you are getting your colours with the ToUcam on the 9.25
