Who found the best deep sky objects and when did they find them?

Hodierna, Messier, Mechain and William Herschel

The Far Southern Sky DSO were found by

Open Clusters
Hodierna and Lacaille were the main discoverers of OC in the attached list

Globular Clusters
Messier and Dunlop were the main discoverers of GC in the attached list

Nebulae and Planetary nebulae
William and John Herschel were the main discoverers of Neb and PN in the attached list

Galaxies
Mechain, William Herschel and Dunlop were the main discoverers of Gxy in the attached list

The attached list contains 261 Deep Sky Objects
38 OC, 50 GC, 45 Neb, 39 PN and 89 Gxy
