Hunter Valley Air Show this weekend

This morning I was reminded of the Hunter Valley Air Show, when one of the six new Boeing E-7A Wedgetail Integrated Airwarfare planes made a low pass over my house. Very impressive aircraft, and it's very unusual to see a 737 AWAC derivative flying so low. These new integrate warfare planes are very much sought after, but Australia was in the front of the queue. The US Airforce is trying to buy 12 from Boeing, but there is a backlog. The old US E-3 planes cannot command and control all assets (land, sea, and air) the way the E-7 can.

Defence Projects actually did something right? No ... I don't believe it .. must have been a rapid acquisition like the C17. I remember when they first proposed the purchase of the Wedgetail .. the endless arguments on whether the rear end Jocks would come under Maritime with the P3C/P8 mob or be their own entity under 3CRU ... totally two different roles.
