16th Jan Sunspots everywhere

16th Jan. I had to wait until after 5 pm AEST today to get an image of the Sun - cloud all day. This single exposure image was taken with a Canon 550d camera and shows the sunspots visible. Ten active regions at the moment although AR3185 is disappearing on the western limb. The prominent feature is AR3190 - a large sunspot in the eastern sector that I have measured to be around 56,000 km across. Many of the ARs have a lot spots in them. This suggests we are in for a large sunspot count this month. Thanks for viewing.

Good to catch a record even if you have to wait all day for it
