Selling on Ice in Space

Hi folks,
I have a few items to sell on this forum for the first time. I’m planning to request OSKO payment transfers only and send items using Aus Post tracking.

What’s the safest process?

Thanks

SB

To avoid disputes, be very clear about the condition of the item. If it's less than perfect say so and say what is or isn't included if your picture has other stuff in it! Other than that, whatever method you use to receive funds is up to you, don't post before getting paid and always get tracking on more valuable stuff.

Oh, and you get to decide who you sell to. Writing "Pm'ed" first does not constitute a contract - it's your choice, but once you have made it you should stick to it.

Most of the risk is actually on the buyer...

What Jonathan said, and specify whether postage and/or insurance is included or additional.

If you do accept PayPal, be aware that there's roughly a 3% fee on top that you (the seller) end up paying.

From what I have seen and heard over the years I have been on this Forum cant say I have experienced and dodgy members.
We all seem to be a very straight and honest bunch and if you follow the TOS you wont have any issues i expect, just my two cents worth.

I've bought and sold a bunch of gear on this forum without any issues. Solid advice from everyone on this threat. Keep in mind that there is always an element of risk associated with online sales, that's unavoidable, but as Leon said, this community is made up of a bunch of honest folks who are passionate about astronomy so you're more likely to have a positive experience.
For what it's worth, not everyone has OSKO enabled so you might be limiting yourself if you specifically ask for it. Better option might be to say it's a preferable form of payment but any EFT transfer will be fine.
I personally never use PayPal because they charge a fee, and their dispute program hasn't been helpful to me in past.

I've purchased from these classifieds on a couple of occasions, and I can only say that on each occasion, all of the site members have been great to deal with. While everyone should exercise caution on line at the best of times, I think mostly if you approach it the right way you should be fine.
