Herschel wedge

First light today .. think it was about $200 landed
seems well made and comes with its own little case.

The ceramic plate at the rear seems to deal with the heat well enough the views were crisp and sharp .

Graham,

Do not use a Herschel wedge without an ND3 and IR/UV cut filter or Baader Solar Continuum Filter or both !!!. Otherwise irreparable eye damage can occur!!!

Bob it came from Starpal outdoor via Ali-ex took around a week or so to arrive was $178 plus post around $200 all up ...there are a few differant options when ordering so look carefully which filters and unit you want

Hi martin i used to have a solarmax but new to white light . I did read up on these and and would suggest everyone wanting to try any solar observing take a little time to do the same in regard to any new equipment you plan to use .I can confirm the ND filter was in place and looked in good order they dont come with an IR/UV filter but what i understand it would be prudent to have one so will get one in a couple of days . . the CPL I am not over fussed on .. not from a safety side just the adjustment gets dark very quick I seem to prefer the lighter setting . . .. am a little unsure of fitting a UV filter as am not sure the ND filter is threaded both sides but i could be wrong.

Graham, it's good to see you are getting an IR/UV filter.
