NGC253 LRGB Ha O3

Image specs: LRGB, Ha, O3: 30 X 300s each filter.

Pixinsight:
WBP, Automatic Background Extraction, EZ noise removal, Histogram Transformation, LRGB combination, NBRGB script (add Ha & O3), Curves Transformation (saturation only).
EZ Deconvolution (introduced some small rings around stars).

Photoshop:
Manually removed the artefacts (rings, about some stars) using a mask and then blur and smudge tools.
A minor adjustment to lightness, saturation and colour balance.

Thanks for looking, help appreciated

Peter,
Excellent Sculptor with terrific detail in the core and spirals
Only one observation , looks a tad black clipped in the background as there should be more faint stars in the star field ( compared to my image, Startools in most cases wont clip your data )
Well done !!
Martin

Very nice Peter - lovely round stars & nice detail.

I agree with Martin, looks a tad black clipped & I think it could be lightened a bit.

Thanks M, I new you would say that
I tried a 'new' stretching technique concentrating on the galaxy not the stars.
And found the most detail in the galaxy appeared keeping the histogram curve to the left.
Might have to look into masked stretching so you get the best of both worlds.

Cool result there Peter, plenty of details right to the core. Nice work combining all the filters too, the Ha really stands out huh? I was just looking at this through my 12" Dob up here in the mountains in excellent viewing conditions and I could see plenty of that mottling across the cigar visually,

Mike

Hi Mike

You've inspired me to get out the Dob. Never seen this galaxy (or any other, aside from Andromeda) in the 'flesh'.
Biggest challenge will be to find it

Very detailed, fine image. Personally, I'd lighten it up a bit - which should also show the hazy envelope better.

Nice NGC253 - lots of detail.

I noticed in your workflow description you mention EZDecon after Histogram Transformation. I always thought Decon needed to be done while the image is still linear. If that is true for EZDecon's process you would need to do the Decon before the Histo Trans step.

Thanks Mark.
Always in someways, we can do it better.

Very Astute of you to notice Pete.

I have tried it both ways, and then worked on the principle of, if it works, go for it
